At. St. Paul’s Hospital and Foundation, stewardship and integrity are more than guiding principles – they’re the foundation of how we serve our community. Every decision, investment and interaction is shaped by our responsibility to use resources wisely, act with transparency and uphold the trust placed in us by our patients, families, donors and community partners.  

Rooted in our Catholic heritage and governed in partnership with Emmanuel Health, we honour a legacy of accountability that stretches back more than a century. From the way we care for patients to how we manage donor gifts and steward technology, we are committed to serving with purpose, integrity, and deep respect for the people and communities we serve.

Stewardship means we take our responsibility to our community seriously. Whether we’re investing donor gifts, managing health care resources or making decisions that affect patient care, every action we take is grounded in integrity, accountability and a mission to serve others with compassion.  

St. Paul’s Hospital is part of Emmanuel Health, a Catholic healthcare organization that governs 13 facilities across Saskatchewan. This partnership ensures our care, policies and practices reflect shared values rooted in Catholic social teaching, including justice, respect and responsible service.  

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation works closely with hospital leadership and program staff to identify priority needs and ensure gifts are directed to initiatives that align with our mission. St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors provides important oversight over the foundation’s financial stewardship, governance and strategic direction. Donors receive transparent reporting on how their generosity is making an impact.  

Recent donor-supported projects include:  

  • The introduction of the Provincial Surgical Robotics Program to enhance precision and patient outcomes
  • Pyxis MedStations to improve safe medication delivery
  • The creation of an Indigenous Healing Centre as a part of our Hospital’s front entry re-design
  • Renovations to improve patient and family comfort in on our Palliative Care Unit
  • The construction of the Hospice at Glengarda
  • Ongoing support for Healing Arts, Spiritual Care and Holistic Care programming at the Hospital and Hospice

Each investment is chosen with care to improve quality, safety, and accessibility.  

Integrity shows up in how we listen, communicate, and act. It means treating every patient with dignity, being honest about risks and options, protecting confidentiality and always striving to do what’s right – even when it’s challenging. Our ethics-informed Mission Office supports this commitment across all programs.  

The St. Paul’s Hospital Local Council is a dedicated group of leaders and community members appointed under Emmanuel Health. They provide guidance and oversight, ensuring that all decisions align with our mission, values and the needs of those we serve.  

Legacy of Service 

Since 1907, St. Paul’s has been a cornerstone of ethical, values-based care in Saskatchewan. Our foundation in Catholic health care continues to guide us today through our relationship with Emmanuel Health.  

Donor Trust in Action 

In 2024, over $6 million was invested in programs and equipment thanks to generous community support, supporting projects like a new lithotripsy machine, a state-of-the-art MRI retrofit and a pilot Patient Porter Program for kidney health patients.
