Support for Families

Families are welcomed with care, compassion, and space to rest, reflect, and spend meaningful time together. Visit our Family Resources page.
The Hospice at Glengarda was born from a vision of compassion. It opened in 2021 as Saskatchewan’s first free-standing residential hospice, made possible entirely through donor generosity and a shared belief that everyone deserves comfort, dignity and connection at end of life.
Nestled in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Saskatoon, the hospice offers more than expert medical care. It is a space for meaningful moments – a place where families gather around home-cooked meals, music plays softly in patient rooms, and where final days are lived with gentleness, respect and love.
With 15 private rooms, 24/7 care, and a team that includes physicians, nurses and care partners – alongside social work, music therapy, life enhancement and palliative arts services – every aspect of care is guided by the needs and wishes of each patient and family. There is no cost to stay.
Thanks to continued donor support, the hospice is filled with special touches. From memory-making projects and comfort carts to popcorn nights and spa days, the hospice works diligently to provide patients with moments of joy and comfort. Every flower on the bedside table, every song played on the piano, and every smile shared in the hallway reflects the generosity of our community.
Here, the final chapter is written with care, meaning and humanity.
The Hospice at Glengarda supports adults living with life-limiting illnesses who are in the final stages of their journey and require full-time care. Many individuals come to us after receiving palliative care at home or in hospital settings, when additional support is needed to manage physical symptoms, spiritual distress, or emotional needs.
We also support families and loved ones throughout this experience. Whether it’s offering a quiet room for rest, guiding conversations about care and comfort, or helping celebrate meaningful milestones, our team is here to walk alongside families with care and compassion.
There is no cost to stay at the hospice. To begin the referral process, talk to your current care provider or reach out to Community Palliative Home Care at (306) 655-4346.
At the Hospice at Glengarda, patients and their families are embraced by a warm, welcoming environment where personalized, holistic care is the focus. Our 15 private rooms are designed for comfort and peace, with space for loved ones to visit, rest, and reflect.
We provide 24-hour care from a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, continuing care assistants, a social worker, spiritual care provider, music therapist, palliative arts specialist, and life enhancement guide. Patients and families also have access to shared kitchens, living spaces, a multi-faith room, creative arts programming, and outdoor gardens and patios.
There are no visiting hours – families are welcome any time. Guests are encouraged to use the space as their own, including doing laundry, preparing food, and decorating patient rooms to feel more like home.
Our approach to care is deeply holistic and grounded in the dignity of each individual. We take time to understand what matters most to each person, working together to honour their values, traditions, wishes and routines. This is not just clinical care – it is emotional, spiritual, creative, and relational.
Through legacy projects, life celebrations, music therapy, art, storytelling, and quiet moments of connection, we help patients and families make meaning and memories in their own way. Whether we’re arranging a movie night, preparing a patient’s favorite meal, or simply sitting in silence with someone who needs company, we believe every moment counts.

Hospice care is specialized end-of-life care for people living with a life-limiting illness. It focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life, addressing physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs during the final weeks or months of life.
Adults with a terminal diagnosis who are no longer able to be supported at home may be eligible. A referral is required through Community Palliative Home Care. If you are not already connected to palliative services, your health care provider can help you get started.
There is no cost to patients or families to receive care at the Hospice at Glengarda. The hospice is publicly funded, and many of the added comforts and holistic supports are made possible by generous community donors.
