Our Mission in Action

Collaborative Partnerships & Innovation

At St. Paul’s Hospital and Foundation, innovation is made possible by partnership, and that includes the extraordinary generosity of our donor community. Every leap forward in care, from surgical robotics to community outreach, is made possible through deep relationships with donors, healthcare leaders, community organizations and the people we serve.

Collaboration is how we turn bold ideas into tangible improvements in health. Whether we’re launching life-changing technologies, embedding Indigenous-led teams in our Emergency Department, or co-developing new palliative care models, we do it together with purpose, compassion and shared vision. Thanks to our donors and partners, we are shaping a future of care that is more inclusive, responsive and transformative.

Your Questions about Collaborative Partnerships & Innovation Answered

Collaboration means listening to our community, working across sectors, and co-creating solutions with others. It’s visible in the partners we welcome through our doors and the respect we show for lived experience and shared expertise.

Partnerships are essential to how we care, grow and innovate. While government funding supports essential services, it’s donor support that often makes it possible to invest in transformative ideas, like a surgical robot, an Indigenous healing garden, and new models of outreach care.

Through collaboration with donors, community organizations, and system partners, St. Paul’s Hospital and Foundation are able to respond more quickly to emerging needs, explore new solutions and ensure that care continues to evolve in ways that are compassionate, inclusive and forward-thinking.

We’re honored to work alongside the Sawēyihtotān Outreach Team, Prairie Hospice Society, the U of S College of Medicine and School of Public Health, and many more organizations that help us share our learnings and reach people where they are, with the right care at the right time.

Innovation is about more than just equipment; it’s about rethinking how we deliver care. From new models of home-based kidney treatment to art-based healing programs, we’re always exploring creative ways to improve well-being and meet people’s evolving needs.

Innovating Surgical Care

Home to the Provincial Surgical Robotics Program, St. Paul’s Hospital is expanding access to safer, less invasive procedures. With two da Vinci robots now in use, our surgical team can perform minimally invasive procedures with greater precision and faster recovery time for patients.

Partnering with Prairie Hospice Society

Together, we’re building a stronger palliative care system that prioritizes dignity, autonomy, and community support – wherever people call home.

Sawēyihtotān Outreach Team

Sawēyihtotān is an Indigenous-led outreach team that supports people experiencing housing and food insecurity. Their daily presence in our Emergency Department provides cultural, spiritual, and practical support to those in crisis. It’s a powerful example of what community-led, kinship-based care can look like.

Technology That Transforms

From Pyxis MedStations to state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostics, donor-funded innovations are enhancing accuracy, safety, and outcomes.
